LWD Density Logging Tools
Density logging is a logging technique that uses the Compton scattering principle to measure formation density. The tool radiates gamma rays to the formation through a cesium (Cs137) source, and then uses a detector at a certain distance from the source to measure the intensity of the gamma rays scattered and absorbed by the formation. The probability of gamma-ray scattering in the formation depends only on the electron density of the formation. The measurement of the formation density can be achieved by converting the electron density to the volume density by correction.
